A space opera (with no singing)

When the air is poisoned on the planet moon of Lunos, a rag-tag band of misfit kids and their robot companions are all that’s left to solve the mystery of the fouling and save other worlds from the same fate. But first they have to survive the Lonely Planet!

This story began as a serial I would tell my kids around the campfire. When I struggled with work on a more complex and ambitious novel (the working titled: Where Do I Begin), I returned to this story to help me master the basics of writing. It has also provided great enjoyment as the characters emerge to tell the story with me.

Many writers advise you to ‘learn the rules before you break them’. I’m attempting that here. It’s a faithful adherence to the basic structure of the Hero’s Journey, with important lessons and character development for the protagonists.

This is the first of at least three novels in the Lonely Planet series. My goal is to complete the first novel and build an audience and interest for future volumes. The target audience is Middle-School / YA.
